Last week Saudi Air Force Second Lieutenant Ahmed Mohammed al-Shamrani shot three Americans dead at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. This is known as a “green on blue” attack. Immediately the question arose on why he did so. Why did al-Shamrani, a man that was supposed to be thoroughly vetted as no threat to the USA (West, NATO) started shooting at his “comrades?”
As always the suggestion came that he “was either a terrorist or simply mentally unstable.” That is nonsense. Terrorists don’t like mentally unstable people and seldom to never allow them close. The mentally unstable, insane, are simply not good terrorists. They cannot follow orders and they will betray their mates. Note that whilst a terrorist may do something insane and act like a barbarian he is seldom to never clinically insane. What he does is to terrorise, to create fear or justice (from his view) for crimes committed against him. He might also have a good and just cause be it religious or political or both (from his view). If he was a terrorist, then where are your vetting processes? Failed once again, I suppose.
Let us see why al-Shamrani committed his foul deed – in his own words – he left behind a message. Not many American news outlets would publish what you are about to read (spelling errors etc. are his): “I’m not against you for just being American, I don’t hate you because your freedoms, I hate you because every day you supporting, funding and committing crimes not only against Muslims but also humanity. I am against evil, and America as a whole has turned into a nation of evil. What I see from America is the supporting of Israel which is invasion of Muslim countrie, I see invasion of many countries by it’s troops, I see Guantanamo Bay. I see cruise missiles, cluster bombs and UAV. Your decision-makers, the politicians, the lobbyists and the major corporations are the ones gaining from your foreign policy, and you are the ones paying the price for it. “What benefit is it to the American people to suffer for the sake of supporting Israel? “Do you expect to transgress against others and yet be spared retribution? “How many more body-bags are American families willing to receive? “For how long can the US survive this war of attrition? “The US Treasury spend billions of dollars, in order to give Americans a false sense of security . “The security is shared destiny “You will not be safe until we live it as reality in pleastain, and American troops get out of our lands .”
It is interesting that Barack Obama could never link the Islamic Faith with Islamic terrorism, yet, all of the terrorist attacks against the West were committed in the name of Allah. The culprits said so directly. Yet, Obama could not see the link and forever would deny what is obvious to those outside his bubble. Nicolas J.S. Davies: “How many Americans know that the bombing campaign Obama launched in Iraq and Syria in 2014 has been the heaviest U.S. bombing campaign anywhere in the world since Vietnam? Over 105,000 bombs and missiles, as well as indiscriminate U.S., French and Iraqi rockets and artillery, have blasted thousands of homes in Mosul, Raqqa, Fallujah, Ramadi and dozens of smaller towns and villages. As well as killing thousands of Islamic State fighters, they have probably killed at least 100,000 civilians, a systematic war crime that has passed almost without comment in the Western media.” Have no doubts, things got much worse under Donald J Trump. With such indiscriminate killing innocents are murdered. The strikes are in no way “surgical.”
I said in dozens of books that by far the majority of US service members do not, repeat not, engage in war crimes or criminal behaviour. The major problem here is the system that covers for those that do and it has disastrous counter-terrorism consequences. Every time that beastly criminal behaviour comes to light a new terrorist is born and revenge attacks a certainty. Trust is lost. With that goes your informant networks which cannot be effectively replaced by money alone. Then you don’t know where the next attack will come from. You stumble around waiting to be attacked, you become bait, and then you overreact when attacked by flattening everything in sight, creating more terrorists. Yes, if you should read the debriefings of terrorists the pattern is almost always the same, they say that a family member was killed in an airstrike, artillery strike or directly by the US Military (they blame the US as the leader, it does not matter if from the UK or France or whatever, they blame the USA). That is where they pick up a rifle and fight. In such cases, you have already lost the counterinsurgency / counterterrorism war. Go home, you cannot win and you will never rebuild the trust once it is gone. It is over, you are now seen as the same as the Soviet Army raping its way to Berlin. Every time that you kill an innocent, and I am not even going to repeat how much of a failure the drone program is or how Saudi Arabia, your mate, is committing war crimes against the Yemeni civilians, you create another terrorist.
By the face of it, we will see what the FBI investigation reveals (or not, I have zero faith in them), al-Shamrani was not a radical in the usual sense of the word. He was fed up with American Foreign Policy which led to the dreadful consequences of a low standards military being exposed to the world as war criminals. It is vastly interesting that Twitter (that beacon of suppressing free speech) immediately deleted al-Shamrani’s declaration as quoted but left the denunciations of the attack and the attacker by other Muslims... why is that? Covering for what? Why did Donald J Trump immediately say that the Saudi King will make good with the deceased families etc? Why not the truth about the Saudi family for once? Tell me, what Republican Senator Rand Paul said in October 2018? Presumably, he knows what he is talking about: “It’s a fact that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest sponsor of radical Islam on the planet, and no other nation is even close. Since the 1980s, over $100 billion has ‘been spent on exporting’ Wahhabism (the brand of Islam that controls Saudi Arabia and is most prevalent in madrassas). According to Foreign Policy Magazine, an ‘estimated 10 to 15 percent of madrassas are affiliated with extremist religious or political groups,’ while the number of madrassas in places like Pakistan and India has increased exponentially – from barely 200 to over 40,000 just in Pakistan. Even the State Department noted during the Obama administration that Saudi Arabia was the ‘most significant source of funding to Sunni terrorist groups worldwide,’ and said Qatar and Saudi Arabia were ‘providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups.’” If Rand Paul is correct, why do you even allow any Saudi national on your soil? The answer is money. You sell them weapons, aircraft, and thus you sell them training. Stupid is as stupid does.
